High-Intensity focused Ultrasound used on the face is essentially a non-invasive replacement for face lifts. What is HIFU?
HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is the latest non-surgical technology that lifts, tones and tightens the skin on the face, neck and body.
HIFU uses highly concentrated ultrasound waves that penetrate deep into the skin and stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Is HIFU treatment safe?
This non-invasive treatment is extremely safe. Ultrasound energy has been safely used in medicine for more than 50 years.
What is HIFU best for?

What does HIFU feel like?
As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to the precise depths. You will feel a warm, tingling sensation throughout the treatment, which is tolerable. The amount of energy used can be adjusted to provide extra comfort for sensitive clients.
When will I see results?
Visible results are often seen and felt immediately (up to 20%) Results will continue to develop over the course of 2-3 months with some clients experiencing continued improvement for up to six months
Is there any downtime?
There is no down time at all which makes HIFU a great alternative to surgery. You might look a little flushed and red after the treatment but this usually passes within a couple of hours. Mild swelling and tenderness can also occur, but again these are temporary side effects.
What can HIFU do for the face?
HIFU for the face, can create face lift-like effects by tightening and rejuvenating the skin overall for a younger look. It can also lift the brow area, jowls and jaw line and reduce nasolabial folds, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes.

How many times will I need to do HIFU?
Most clients only require a single session. The results usually last between 12 and 18 months, but some might need 2 or 3 more sessions to get a better result. This depends on the level of accuracy you want and how your body responds to the process. HIFU can be used together with other treatments.
How long does the procedure take?
Treatment duration varies based on the patient’s prior medical history and age. A single HIFU session usually lasts between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours.
What can I expect before & after the treatment?
Before the treatment, you will have a consultation to ensure that you are comfortable with the procedure and that all of your questions are answered. Your qualified therapist will mark out the areas of your face or body. Finally, a cooling ultrasound gel is applied to so that the HIFU energy can be preformed effectively and as comfortably as possible.
Is HIFU better than RF?

While HIFU delivers more precise and more intense fractional ultrasound energy.
Both technologies will produce and restore collagen production.
HIFU can go deeper into the SMAS layer to target fat & muscle, while RF is effective in protecting and maintaining your HIFU results and will require more treatments.
What are the contraindications for HIFU?
HIFU is not recommended for people with infections and open lesions, serve cystic acne, and metal or active implants in the treatment area.
It is also not recommended for pregnant or breast feeding women or people with the following conditions;
- Active systemic or local skin disease that may alter wound healing
- Herpes Simplex
- Autoimmune Disease
- Bells Palsy
* It also not to be preformed on the face if you have has any Botox of Fillers within the last 2 weeks
Is there any after care?
Typically, you may return to normal activities immediately after your HIFU treatment.
You may feel the treated area is sore to touch for up to a week.
If the skin is slightly pink or red in areas following the treatment avoid hot water when washing the face or hot showers until the 'blush' has subsided.
Soothing, non irritating creams may be used such Ocosmedics Medi soothe or Pelactiv cooling gel post treatment are both available for purchase in store & online.
Avoid exfoliation or any aggressive skin treatments for at least one week or until sensitivity in the treatment area has subsided.
